Dr Nimisha Sharma completed her Ph.D from Indian Institute of
Science, Bangalore and Masters from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New
Delhi. She was a visiting scientist at the Stowers Insitute for
Medical Research, USA and Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, UK, where
she gained experience in MudPIT technology, microarray technology and
many other molecular techniques involved in working with the fission
yeast. To further hone her skills as a researcher, she has done
postdoctoral training in Children's National Medical Center,
Washington D.C., USA, University of Chicago, USA, and National
Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. The research interests of her
laboratory include gene expression and regulation in eukaryotic cells
as well as functional genomics. Wide array of approaches are employed
to identify conserved and new components of different cellular
machineries regulating biological processes in yeasts and other
higher eukaryotic organisms. The work in the lab is supported by
research grants from the Government of India. She is also involved in
teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students of Biotechnology.
