The mandate of the IPU-IPR Cell shall be as under:-

• To make aware the faculty, non-teaching employees, Librarians and students about importance and economic benefits of IPR.
• Sensitizing all stakeholders about diverse aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.
• Actively promoting faculty and student research by providing support for effective patenting and other forms of IPR protection.
• Developing a performance related accountability, incentives and rewards mechanism for faculty to disclose, protect and exploit their inventions and help in enhancing knowledge base of the University.
• Creating an Enabling Environment for commercialization of University knowledge base.
• Leveraging synergistic alliances externally with other constituents of the knowledge chain nationally and internationally.
• To provide consultancy in patents registration and another branches of IPR.
• To provide mediation and redressal of IPR disputes.
• Payments to the resource persons who may contribute to legal and scientific support to the Cell from time to time.
• To organize workshop/conference/invited talks/sensitization programme.
• Financial requirement for filings patents and other forms of IPR's (as per IPU-IPR Policy)
• The Process of monetization of published awarded patents shall be activated by the IPU-IPR Cell.
• The Cell shall co-ordinate all IPR related activities.
