OUTREACH & EXTENSION ACTIVITIES



Policy statement of UGC states as under “If the University system has to discharge adequately its responsibilities to the entire education system and to the society as a whole, it must assume extension as the third important responsibility (Third Dimension) and give it the same status as teaching and research. This is a new and extremely significant area which should be developed on the basis of high priority”. The Above policy of UGC has been taken as guiding principles to establish Centre for Extension and Field Outreach at GGSIP University. The Outreach and Extension Activities at our university is a bog step in the right direction towards the university’s goals of sustainable development, community involvement and social responsibility. This will be instrumental in bringing positive change and innovation, enhancing students’s educational experiences and advancing the prosperity and well-being of society at large by actively interacting with local communities of developing relationships.

Broad Objectives:

A. Community Empowerment: Provide local communities access to resources. Knowledge, and chances for skill and capacity development.
B. Knowledge Transfer: To solve urgent social concerns, and facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge between academic specialists and community groups.
C. Student Engagement: Provide experiential learning opportunities, internships and community-based research projects to students for improving their educational experience.
D. Sustainable Development: Encourage initiatives for sustainable development by working together on joint projects that take into account social, economic, and environmental factors.
E. Cultural Enrichment: Through community gatherings, seminars, projects that support inclusiveness and cross-cultural communication, celebrate cultural diversity and traditions.

Following activities and programs will be organized:

A. Workshops and Training Sessions: Providing capacity-building initiatives, training sessions and workshop for the development of skills on subjects including digital literacy, entrepreneurship, sustainable agricultural and healthcare.
B. Community Outreach Projects: Implementation neighborhood-based initiatives in coordination with state and local authorities to tackle particular issues such public health promotion, environmental preservation and poverty reduction,etc.
C. Opportunities for Internships and Service-Learning : Providing students with opportunities for internship and service-learning projects, and volunteer work allows them to get practical experience in the classroom while also supporting community development initiatives.
D. Public Events and Seminars: Planning talks, seminars and cultural gatherings for the general public that encourage discussion, knowledge, and comprehension of important issues affecting both local and global societies.
E. Women’s Empowerment: Women’s empowerment, gender inequality at home, community and public spaces, safety of girls and women, access to skill, credit and work opportunities.
F. Legal Aid: The Centre will organize camp at various location for spreading legal awareness to the society and would also conduct awareness session on government’s welfare schemes of the central and state government.
G. Open House for different schools’ students: 10th to 12th class students of different schools is allowed to visit for a day to get exposure to the different facilities available in the university. All the open houses are concluded with interaction sessions where students are allowed to interact with faculty with respect to their curiosity, stress management, human value, and career counseling.
H. To start 2 credit course: The Centre will propose 02 credit course on the “ Extension and Outreach Activities” for all USS students and will prepare course outline and other guidelines as per NEP policy.
