IGIT has been ranked among top five engineering colleges in the State of Delhi. Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) was established in 1998 by Directorate of Training and Technical Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi as the first engineering college exclusively for women. In 2002, the college became the first constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Over the years this college has blossomed into one of the most prestigious college of North India. Under the umbrella of GGS IP University the college has reserved 85% seats for Delhi girls and 15% for outside Delhi. The admission to this college is through a common entrance exam (CET) conducted by GGS IP University. The college attracts the best talent from Delhi and the girls have found placement in leading Indian Industries. It has attained a level of maturity and has made rich contributions to the growth of quality technical education and research among women during the last few years. Its alumni have excelled both in India and abroad as the institution enjoys a high repute.
The techno cultural fest of IGIT is organized every year to instil immense confidence, promote team work and to hone the managerial skill and organizing skills of the students. The festival IMPULSE, XEBEC and TREMORS draw lot of participation from engineering colleges with in and outside Delhi.
The college boasts of highly qualified and experienced faculty members with minimum M.Tech qualification and state-of-the-art-Lab infrastructure in each department. Students of IGIT have been placed in prestigious companies like Microsoft, Adobe, TCS, GE, Maruti, CDOT, Siemens, Ericson, Oracle, SAP Lab etc. The IGIT students are also recipients of prestigious Scholarships like Bharati Foundation, GE Research and DLF Raghavendra Scholarship.
