Workshop: Technotriks 2010

The Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), the pioneer in the engineering field in India for over half a century organized a full day workshop - ‘Technotriks 2010’ at USIT, GGSIPU on March 6, 2010. The workshop encompassed a wide variety of topics regarding stuffs which we frequently handle, but seldom wonder about. The objective of these workshops was to develop a sense of understanding amongst the participants.

The workshop was the brainchild of five students Geetika Malhotra,Manish Dwibedy, Aditi Jaitly,Vikas, Himanshu (USIT,2nd year) under the guidance and encouragement of Mr. Amit Prakash Singh (Asst.Prof, USIT). Technotriks could be summed up as a full day event of the students, by the students and for the students.

The events comprising Technotriks were:
Touchscreen technology: The workshop presented an opportunity to understand how touchscreens actually work. The workshop consisted of a one hour interactive session, covering different aspects of this ever expanding technology.

An Insight to Multimedia: The one hour workshop explored the basics of multimedia, its application areas and introduction to some popular multimedia software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Corel draw and Illustrator.

Decoding MATLAB: The workshop was meant for all those new to this fourth generation programming language. Introduction to MATLAB, Common Useful Functions in MATLAB, Control Structures, Image Processing and MATLAB Programming were some of the topics.

Webmania: The workshop introduced techniques to construct attractive and effective Web pages by means of a brief introduction to the various languages and latest technologies used in the present fast changing scenario.

The entire event got off to a beginning with the Inauguration ceremony. The Chief Guest was Mr.Amit Prakash Singh who shared his wisdom with of crowd of almost 130 students. The workshops gave students an opportunity to learn and appreciate these innovative technologies and boost their technical know-how through a quiz for techies, ’ILLUMINATI’. All in all it was a learning experience both for the participants and the organizers. Let’s hope that it emerges stronger next year.
