FOOTBALL FEVER!! FOOTBALL FANATICS!!

“It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.” Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University believes in the holistic development of students. Along with studies equal emphasis is given to sports. Every year the university organizes a Sports Meet in which students of various disciplines and affiliated colleges participate. The nail biting excitement, emotions running high and the massive popularity make the Football Tournament one of the most awaited tournaments amongst youth every year. Football Tournament commenced on 16th of September and various exciting matches have been going on since then.

More than 12 teams have faced the heat of the competition. The matches took place between:- Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) vs. Guru Nanak Institute of Management (GNIM), JIMS won the match by 2-0 Chanderprabhu Jain College of Higher Studies (CPJHS) vs. Army Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT), CPJHS won by 5-3 Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) vs. Delhi Institute of Advance Studies (DIAS), ASET won by 1-0 Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT) vs. Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology (FIMT), BPIT won by 3-0 MBS School of Planning and Architecture (MBS) vs. Institute of Innovation in Technology and Management (IITM), MBS won by 4-2 New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM) vs. Ambedkar Institute of Advance Communication Technologies (AIT), NDIM won by 4-2 Delhi Technical Campus (DTC) vs. Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advance Technology (KIHEAT), DTC won by 3-0 Trinity Institute of Professional Studies (TIPS) vs. Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institue of Management and Information Technology (SGTBIMIT), TIPS won by 6-0 Jagan Institue of Management Studies (JIMS) vs. Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Professional Studies (BCIPS), JIMS won by 5-0

The madness amongst people for football could be easily seen from the huge crowd of supporters that came and cheered for their favorite teams and players. Almost every match was thoroughly enjoyed by the players as well as by the onlookers. The matches witnessed a lot of good goals too, adding on to the merriment of the crowd. Constant hooting and words of encouragement were coming from the crowd. “Football is much more than a game to me, it’s a part of my life, a sort of stress buster to be precise, I love playing and seeing the game. It teaches us so much about team work too”, said Naveen, one of the onlookers. The game motivated some of the guys so much that immediately after the official matches they started playing amongst themselves. The exhilaration has just begun and the tournament promises a lot of entertainment and elation ahead.
